Brush Masters paints homes and businesses all over Colorado Springs - interiors, exteriors, staining, drywall and texture, popcorn and wallpaper removal, and trim and siding replacement. Dave has been painting here for more than 40 years, and every estimate is free and in person.
What Colorado Springs houses have to deal with
Every era of house needs something different
The city has grown outward in rings, and each ring brings its own prep. Homes near downtown, the Old North End and Old Colorado City date back a century or more, with wood siding, detailed trim and - in anything built before 1978 - the possibility of lead paint. The mid-century neighbourhoods have plaster and older drywall. The 1970s through 1990s brought popcorn ceilings, textured walls and wallpaper borders. Newer subdivisions on the north and east sides lean toward stucco and fibre-cement. A repaint estimate starts with knowing which one you live in.
Sun and swings in temperature
At a little over 6,000 feet, sunlight is stronger than at sea level and the air is dry. South- and west-facing walls fade and chalk first, and exterior wood dries out and checks. Days can be warm and nights cold, which limits exterior painting in spring and fall. Inside, the dry air is kind to paint - it dries quickly - but it also opens up gaps in trim and makes old caulk shrink and crack.
Hail season
The Pikes Peak region sees hail most summers. Beyond dented gutters, hail chips paint off trim and siding and can crack wood and stucco, letting water in behind the finish. If a storm has marked your house, the damaged trim or siding should be repaired before anything is repainted - and if the damage is bad, talk to your insurer before booking the work.

Colorado Springs painting questions
Do you work in every part of Colorado Springs?
Yes - north, south, east and west, from Briargate and Northgate to the Broadmoor area, the Westside, Old North End, Powers corridor and Stetson Hills. Dave is based on the north side of the city.
My house was built before 1978. What should I know?
Homes from before 1978 may have lead-based paint under newer coats. Federal EPA rules govern how anyone paid to sand, scrape or cut into those painted surfaces must contain and clean up the work. Mention the age of the house when you call so the estimate accounts for it.
Can you help get my house ready to sell?
Yes. Pre-listing work is a big part of what Brush Masters does - neutral repaints, trim touch-ups, patched and re-textured drywall, and popcorn or wallpaper removal. Several local realtors refer their clients to Dave.
