Interior Painting in Colorado Springs, CO
Whole-house and room-by-room repaints - walls, ceilings, trim, doors and vaulted spaces - with the furniture, floors and fixtures protected throughout.
What interior painting looks like with us
Brush Masters is a residential repaint company first, and interiors are most of that work: a living room and hallway, a whole house before a sale, a rental between tenants, a two-story great room nobody else wanted to put a ladder in. The part customers write about afterwards is rarely the colour. It is that the carpet was covered even though it was being replaced, that the doors were sprayed in a booth set up in the garage, and that the crew spent longer preparing than painting. Dave has been doing this around Colorado Springs for more than 40 years.
What’s included
Most of an interior job happens before the paint is opened
One customer put it better than we could: we "spent more time prepping than we did with the actual painting, and it really paid off." That is not an accident, it is the method. On a typical interior repaint the prep covers:
- Moving and covering furniture, and masking floors, counters, fixtures and hardware.
- Filling nail holes and dings, and repairing cracks so they do not telegraph through the new colour.
- Patching and texture-matching drywall damage so the repair disappears (see drywall and texture repair).
- Caulking gaps at trim and casing, and sanding glossy trim so the new coat grips.
- Priming stains, patches and bare spots so the finish coat dries to one even sheen.
Tall walls, vaulted ceilings and stairwells
Plenty of Colorado Springs homes built from the 1980s on have a two-story entry, a vaulted great room or an open stairwell - the walls homeowners do not attempt themselves. Those rooms need proper staging, not a tall ladder balanced on a step, and they need the cut line at a 20-foot ceiling to be as straight as the one at eight feet. A realtor who has referred several clients to Brush Masters wrote: "I was most impressed by a 2 story vaulted interior painting job they completed in just a couple days."
Choosing a sheen for how the room is used
Colour gets all the attention, but sheen decides how a wall wears. Flat and matte finishes hide imperfections and suit ceilings and formal rooms; they mark more easily. Eggshell and satin wipe clean, which is what hallways, kids' rooms and family rooms need. Semi-gloss belongs on trim, doors and bathrooms, where hands and steam are the everyday wear. The free estimate is a good time to talk it through room by room.
Homes built before 1978
Older neighbourhoods near downtown and on the Westside have plenty of homes built before 1978, when lead-based paint was banned for residential use. Anyone paid to disturb painted surfaces in those homes is covered by the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule, which sets how the work is contained and cleaned up. If your home is that age, say so when you call, and ask any painter you are considering how they handle it.
